What You Will DoThe Chemistry/Chemical Sciences Graduate Student (GRA) Program offers paid summer and year-round internships for undergraduate students in a variety of Chemistry Science projects. The program provides mentoring, hand-on technical experience, and professional development opportunities through a formalized work plan complementing the student’s chosen area of study. | | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: · Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in any Chemistry Science discipline. Examples of Chemistry Science disciplines in greatest demand include: Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related STEM field. · Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent). · Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA or at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Desired Skills: Students selected for GRA internship in Chemistry Sciences are most competitive when they possess the following knowledge and skills: · Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following analytical techniques: FTIR, SEM, NMR; · Experimental techniques currently used within your selected chemistry science subfield(s); · Laboratory experience demonstrating an attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices; · Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context; and · Commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting. | | | | | | Where You Will WorkLocated in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security.
