What You Will Do
RESEARCH: The successful candidate will develop models to study the regulation of autophagy in the context of KRAS-driven lung cancer
SKILLS: Mathematical/computational modeling, machine learning
The Postdoctoral Research Associate or Fellow 1) will gain experience in computational rule-based modeling of cell signaling and data analysis through multivariate statistics and/or machine learning, 2) will learn about regulation of autophagy (a cellular recycling process) and its role in cancer, and 3) will collaborate with quantitative experimentalists at the Van Andel Research Institute led by Dr. Jeffrey P. MacKeigan (http://mackeiganlab.vai.org). The project is funded by an R01 grant from NIH/NCI.

ENVIRONMENT: The Theoretical Biology & Biophysics Group was founded in 1974. The group played a key role in establishing GenBank and the HIV databases and the rationale for combination therapy of HIV/AIDS and in launching the Human Genome Project and the Annual q-bio Summer School and Conference events. The staff includes members of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and an E.O. Lawrence Award winner. Opportunities exist to interact with researchers in the Center for Nonlinear Studies (http://cnls.lanl.gov/External/), the renowned Theoretical Division, and the National Center for Systems Biology in New Mexico (http://www.systemscenters.org, http://stmc.health.unm.edu). COMPENSATION: Salary begins at $73,600 ($108,000 for Distinguished Fellows)
