The group of Physics of Condensed Matter and Complex Systems, Los Alamos National Laboratory, has an immediate postdoctoral research position opening in the area of theoretical modeling and simulation of electronic structure, optical response, and transport properties in strongly correlated electronic systems. This position provides an opportunity to pursue fundamental studies of properties and functionality of topologically protected states in strongly correlated electronic systems. This postdoctoral project will involve development and applications of numerical and analytical modeling to characterize the topology and emergent phenomena from electronic correlations, and collaboration with the experimental condensed matter physics group at LANL.
What You Need
The successful candidate must have a strong background in condensed matter theory, and be skilled in numerical/computational simulations. The ability to work creatively and independently, of a large team with both theorists and experimentalists, is very important. Strong communication and language skills, as evidenced by publications and cover letter are required.
Notes to Applicants:
Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.
Additional Details:
Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Candidates may be considered for a Director's Fellowship and outstanding candidates may be considered for the prestigious Marie Curie, Richard P. Feynman, J. Robert Oppenheimer, or Frederick Reines Fellowships.
