Postdoctoral Positions available immediately, to work in the Theoretical Physics and Chemistry of Materials Group (T-1) at Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory. Successful applicants will work primarily with Ping Yang in the following areas:
First principle studies of electronic properties, bonding interactions, and reaction mechanisms of actinide-containing molecules. In close collaboration with parallel experimental efforts, Jackie Kiplinger (Chemistry Division at LANL), we look to understand the bonding and reactivity of the heavy elements. Development and testing of computational methodologies are also essential parts of these studies.
Candidates should have a strong background in quantum chemistry (preferably inorganic chemistry) or condensed matter physics, ideally in both methods and applications. Experience with major quantum chemistry computational packages is highly desired.
Education: PhD in related field completed within the past five years or soon to be completed.
Notes to Applicants: In addition to applying on-line, those interested should submit a cover letter with research interests, and CV with publication list, to pyang@lanl.gov.
