What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Implementing Regulations An understanding of and some experience with AST environmental regulations, groundwater regulations, and surface water regulations including compliance and/or permitting programs. Specifically, generating and maintaining records according to established protocols and regulatory requirements under Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC) and AST regulations in New Mexico. Problem Solving Ability and experience to work well in both independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing team-based environments through strong interpersonal skills while working effectively within a team environment and providing excellent customer service. Communication Skills Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally (presentations, one on one, meetings) and written (correspondence and reports) in a clear concise manner with superiors, peers, customers, other personnel, and regulators. Water Quality Program Experience A combination of experience in water quality programs including both field experience (data collection, inspections, and sampling of outfalls, surface waters, and groundwater wells) and non-field experience (environmental management systems, models, geographic information systems, and commercial software packages) used to interpret and report environmental data/information. Education/Experience: Requires a BS in Earth Science/Environmental Science/Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 2 years directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Qualifications: Additional Education and Training An advanced degree in water resources, hydrology or related degree. LANL An awareness of Laboratory structure and environmental, health and safety policies, practices and procedures including tools such as Integrated Project Review Tool (IRT) for Laboratory wide projects, issues management processes, and integrated work documents. Collaboration Demonstrated ability to create positive energy within a team environment resulting in an increased role of responsibility. Data Evaluation Some experience evaluating storage tank information, hydrologic data, water quality data, or statistical methods for surface water systems and application of these results under a regulatory environment. Clearance This position will be cleared to a DOE “Q” clearance.
