Scientist 2 (87,800-144,800)
As a member of Los Alamos National Laboratory’s cyber security R&D team (A-4), you will provide scientific and technical expertise to solve national security challenges related to cyber systems. You will create novel solutions utilizing your expert knowledge, architecting new techniques in a wide variety of domains, ranging from proof-of-concept algorithms to prototype software systems.
Projects within A-4 include: cyber analytics (scalable “big data” processing, statistical inference, anomaly detection, deep learning); data integrity (steganography, encryption, adversarial machine learning); intrusion detection and analysis (malware reverse engineering, network/protocol analysis); and cyber-physical system security (complex systems, physical attacks against cyber systems). These topics will evolve over time with the cyber security landscape.
As a Research Scientist, you will propose new solutions to unsolved problems, design and implement functional prototypes, write proposals and white papers, and explain complex results to technical and non-technical audiences. The Scientist 2 is responsible for a broad set of activities within a scientific discipline in support of research and development (R&D). Apply scientific principles under the scientific method to address technical problems; or develop novel techniques or principles; or analyze data or outcomes from experiments (in the real world or in the computational domain); or from observational procedures in the context of the underlying scientific principles or models.
