The aim of the project is to study the separation behavior of high-concentration constituent elements and low-concentration impurities in solutions under external forces. The current fields of interest for the project are the physical, chemical, and electrical manipulation of: 1) selective dissolved ions and impurities in aqueous fluids, and 2) selective molecular species in gas mixtures. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other experimental and theoretical scientists with diverse backgrounds. There will be extensive opportunities to work in a wide range of areas and to innovate. Experience in separation experimentation, electrical measurements, materials characterization, non-destructive testing, building complex experimental setups, sensor development, spectroscopic techniques, such as impedance spectroscopy and dielectric spectroscopy, will be considered as important assets. The Materials Synthesis and Integrated Devices group (MPA-11), conducts basic and applied research in areas related to applied energy programs.
