Entry Level Mechanical Engineering Technologist (Engineering Technologist 1) ($77,300 - $126,000) Successful applicants will perform the following duties in this position: Participate as a team member, on component or sub-system hardware design, fabrication, assembly and/or testing
Provide computer aided modeling and drafting support Solve straightforward mechanical engineering problems in support of hardware design, fabrication, assembly and/or testing : Design, fabricate and/or assemble test hardware, fixturing and tooling Determine and implement instrumentation and data acquisition solutions
Early Career Engineering Technologist (Engineering Technologist 2) ($85,400 - $139,600) In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the successful applicant will perform these duties: Lead a small project team Solve more complex mechanical engineering technology problems in support of hardware design, fabrication, assembly and/or testing

Additional Job Requirements for Entry Level - Early Career Mechanical Engineer (R&D Engineer 2): Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, and experience successfully applying those principles, to develop design or testing solutions in one or more of the following technical areas: experimental testing, high precision alignment, thermal optimization, vacuum systems and hardware packaging optimization.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (including relevant experience gained in pursuit of a degree). Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (including relevant experience gained in pursuit of a degree. Desired Qualifications: Experience using SolidWorks and/or Creo Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) of mechanical hardware Active DOE or DOD security clearance
