What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Required skills: Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally, interpersonally and to large audiences. A penchant for publishing at all levels ranging from open archival journals to presentations to laboratory reports and memoranda. Ability to provide experimental design leadership while effectively collaborating across the spectrum of scientists, engineers, managers, administrators, and laboratories/universities. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, the UNIX/Linux operating system, scripting languages such as python, and open-source and commercial scientific tools. Knowledge of materials and material properties, such as opacities and equations-of-state. Working knowledge of numerical methods and computational physics. Ability and willingness to obtain a Q-clearance. Will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Desired Skills: Expertise in numerical methods, methods analysis, computational physics and software; some code development in support of High Energy Density Physics experiments is possible. Experience leading or supporting experiments.
Education: PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, Nuclear Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field such as Chemistry or Material Science completed within the past five years or soon to be completed.
