The successful candidate will work on one or more of the following projects: (1) development of in-situ and operando single quantum defect characterization capabilities toward achieving deterministic defect creation, (2) conducting advanced single defect optical spectroscopies and quantum optic experiments on wide variety of defects ranging from defects of SiC and GaN bulk semiconductors to those created in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and 1D single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), (3) integration of defects into nanoelectronic devices and photonic/plasmonic cavities. A strong background in scanning probe based lithography approaches with demonstrated ability in development of new approaches in microscopy, lithography, or nanomanipulation is highly desirable. Candidates accomplished in research of defect-driven quantum information science, 2D TMDs, covalent functionalization of SWCNTs /TMDs, nanomaterial assembly, non-traditional electronic/ photonic integration, optoelectronic device development, and single defect/molecules/quantum dot spectroscopy are also highly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities will include: Conduct state of art research in one or more of the research projects mentioned above Be an effect member of the QIS research team. Analyze the data, write papers and present at international conferences. Support CINT user science in the area of QIS, nanophotonics and optical nanomaterials. Develop new optical spectroscopy or integration capabilities.
