The candidate's time would be spent on sub-GeV dark matter/photon searches at the Fermilab Short-Baseline Neutrino and E1067/SeaQuest experiments. The successful candidate will contribute to the Team's efforts on novel searches for short-baseline dark sector signatures using the MiniBooNE, SBN liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (TPC) detectors, and the E1067/SeaQuest spectrometer. Emphasis will be on running experiments, analysis and publication of current data, and motivating future experiments. Within program constraints, the possibility also exists to participate in the SBN short-baseline neutrino experiment, DUNE, and other LANL Physics Division activities. | | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: · Experimental background in one or more of the following areas: Particle physics, nuclear physics, simulation and analysis of particle/nuclear physics experiments, data acquisition, model building. · Demonstrated ability to communicate in English both technically and interpersonally and both orally and in writing. · Demonstrated ability to carry out independent and collaborative research. Desired Skills: · Experience with fielding experiments at proton accelerator facilities · Experience in detector technologies commonly used in particle and nuclear physics experiments · Familiarity with Cerenkov, liquid/gas Time Projection Chamber, and spectrometer detectors · Prior experience with dark matter experiments and model building · Advanced proficiency in software tools and programming languages commonly associated with particle and nuclear physics experiments, i.e. ROOT, C++, etc. · Strong publishing record Education: Ph.D. in particle or nuclear physics completed within the last five years is required at or near the time of hiring.
