The Communications and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for interacting with Laboratory customers to plan, set up, and take down exhibits and portable displays. The successful candidate will interact with Laboratory employees, managers, vendors, and conference location coordinators. Additional roles and responsibilities are as follows: Create layout and arrange poster panels and/or easels for meetings, trade shows, capability reviews, and other events Provide estimates for exhibit setup, takedown, and rental costs Work directly with customers to identify their needs, discuss the capabilities and limits of display systems, and offer advice on panel usage, poster development, and poster sizes Participate in creation and construction of 3D models, display cases, custom exhibit structures Provide input and critiques for displays Maintain inventory of multiple exhibit systems Maintain warehouse of exhibit supplies and materials Maintain and possibly refurbish exhibit systems Coordinate the shipping of exhibit and conference materials to national and international conference locations Provide web support by updating web pages, forms, and org charts
| | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Knowledge of marketing and communication best practices and methodologies Strong attention to detail and organization skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of regional/northern NM conference venues (hotels, convention centers, etc.) and LANL technical areas and buildings Strong spatial skills (e.g., ability to conceptualize exhibit systems in different locations) Highly developed interpersonal skills with proven ability to interface and foster relationships with customers and vendors Valid NM driver’s license Experience in event planning Graphic-design and digital media skills, including web design skills Strong computer skills, including competency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Creative Cloud, and SharePoint
Desired Skills: Broad working knowledge of the Laboratory mission, organizations, programs, scientific capabilities, policies and procedures, and key personnel Data management skills and knowledge of content management systems
Education: This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
