The selected candidate will work in a team environment while supporting the operation and maintenance of DARHT accelerators and programmatic equipment. Occasional overtime may be required. Engineered Systems Tec 3 ($51,100-$79,100) The successful candidate: Operates and assists in maintaining the accelerator and support equipment; Obtains and maintains DARHT Accelerator Operator qualifications; Ensures safe operations of the accelerator systems in accordance with approved policies and procedures; Adheres to the principles of Formality of Operations including Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, Conduct of Engineering, and Conduct of Training; Supports occasional overtime that may be required.
Engineered Systems Tec 4 ($61,500-$97,700) In addition to the duties outlined above, the Engineered Systems Tec 4 will be required to: Operate and maintain advanced technical and supporting equipment. Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers. Take on additional responsibilities and collateral duties as identified by the Operations Team Leader.

Additional Job Requirements for Engineered Systems Tec 4: In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the Engineered Systems Tec 4 level requires: Extensive experience with electro-mechanical systems and processes. Experience working at an accelerator or research facility to include maintenance or capability improvement. Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting accelerator systems and/or equipment.
Desired Skills: Experience with operation of LIAs. Experience in reading electrical and mechanical drawings. Strong computer skills including word-processing, data manipulation, and spreadsheet usage. DOE Q clearance.
Engineered Systems Tec 3 Education Required: Position typically requires a high school diploma and two-to-four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It is a center for research in a wide range of scientific disciplines, including space exploration, geophysics, renewable energy, supercomputing, medicine, and nanotechnology. The Integrated Weapons Experiments (J) Division conducts experiments to generate high-quality data necessary to maintain a safe and reliable nuclear stockpile and to support global security. The Division fields, diagnoses, and conducts subcritical experiments, hydrodynamic tests, and focused high-explosive experiments at local firing sites and at the Nevada National Security Site. J Division also operates the Dual Axis Radiographic Hydrodynamic Test (DARHT) Facility, the nation’s premier hydrodynamic testing resource. The Division continually works with the Nevada National Security Site, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, the Department of Energy, and other partners to enhance the capabilities necessary to certify and ensure the safe, secure, and reliable performance of nuclear weapons’ components, materials, and systems. J-1, the DARHT Operations Group, is responsible for developing and maintaining operational readiness and efficiencies at the DARHT facility. Included in operations is the maintenance and upkeep of Facility components, support of capability and facility upgrades, and creation of engineering solutions to unique, accelerator specific issues.
