Reporting to the Team Leader of Business Development within The Richard P. Feynman Center for Innovation (FCI), the Business Development Executive (BDE) will serve on a team of BDEs charged with the business development of commercial partnering and licensing opportunities aligned with Laboratory programmatic goals and technical line objectives.
In this role, you will be responsible for (1) working with LANL program and line managers to establish and maintain industry partnerships as necessary to meet the requirements of Federal sponsors, (2) identifying commercially viable and valuable technologies and facilitating their commercialization via established firms, new venture creation, corporate partnerships or collaborative R&D, and (3) participating effectively within multiple teams. The BDE will work with program and line managers, scientists and principal investigators throughout the Laboratory and across key stakeholder Laboratory divisions, such as ISR Division, A Division and NSEC, to understand the overall capability and intellectual property landscape and how this supports the programs and divisions, help develop intellectual property strategies to support programmatic goals; review business plans and presentations; independently represent technologies to and lead technology discussions with potential commercial partners, and lead FCI’s proactive marketing of the these technologies. An important focus of this BDE will be in national security sciences areas. He/ she will build trust and credibility across stakeholder divisions and create a unifying culture of cross-division collaboration. The BDE will also be well informed on software management and Laboratory policy regarding software and related intellectual property strategies. Some travel may be required.

Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering discipline and a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.
