The successful candidate will be a primary participant in the design and construction of the MAPS detector for sPHENIX, work on related physics analyses and program development at RHIC, Large Hadron Collider at CERN (LHC) and the future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). In addition to performing outstanding research, the candidate is expected to submit research proposals to LANL’s Directed Research and Development (LDRD) program and to the DOE Office of Science. Candidates with research interests compatible with our existing experimental high-energy nuclear physics programs are particularly encouraged to apply.
Scientist 3 ($96,600-$161,300)
In addition to the job responsibilities outlined above, the Scientist 3 will:
Provide physics and technical leadership to the sPHENIX MAPS project and be a key member of the team that works on development and implementation of institutional initiatives. The applicant will help direct the physics program at the national level, build teams, and be a primary participant in reaching major science milestones.
