The Geophysics Group (EES-17) has a great opportunity for an experienced Scientist 3/4 in the area of computational geomechanics. This key role provides technical leadership in the area of modeling and simulation of geodynamic processes for projects in the areas of global security and fossil energy. Candidates having experience in experimental and/or numerical modeling of explosive effects, i.e. high strain-rate deformation of earth materials, are of great interest to us.

The Geophysics group performs basic and applied research using seismology, infrasound, ground shock modeling, and acoustics to address critical national needs in the areas of nuclear energy, fossil energy, renewable energy, weapons effects, containment, nuclear detection monitoring, non-destructive evaluation, threat reduction, earthquake triggering, medical imaging, and climate science, as well as for existing treaties.
