The Institutional Quality (IQ) group supports the Laboratory by assisting organizations ensure quality work is executed consistently and effectively across the institution.The IQ mission is to integrate quality requirements into engineering processes, validate that policies and programs meet regulatory and customer requirements, and develop/manage electronic systems to support the QPA division institutional programs.
Responsibilities:
This position is based in the Institutional Quality (QPA-IQ) group and reports to the QPA-IQ group leader.The selected candidate will report to the QPA-IQ Program Manager 4 as a deployed resource, supporting the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement (CMRR) Project supporting a large, highly-visible, multi-billion dollar project at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Other duties will include:providing assistance to LANL customer organizations on quality assurance issues and activities, and supporting the supply chain quality programs e.g., receipt inspection, suspect/counterfeit, and supplier evaluation.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Knowledge of and experience applying quality assurance regulatory, contractual, and technical documents, i.e. ASME B30, ASTM E-4, DOE 1090-2007, 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926.251, P101-25, DOE Order 414.1D, 10 CFR 830, NQA-1, DOE/NNSA Weapons Quality Policy (QC-1)/NAP-24, and/or LANL contract requirements relevant to inspection activities or equivalent.
Demonstrated inspection knowledge and experience with below the hook Hoisting, Lifting, and Rigging equipment, Work Package execution, working effectively with Work Control, and scheduling jobs.
Demonstrated understanding of Certificate of Conformance, proof load, and proof testing differences and requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with inspection concepts and how they are applied in nuclear and non-nuclear environments.
Experience with ensuring product quality in the context of a production or manufacturing organization.
Demonstrated experience with inspection principles and practices.
Demonstrated experience in performing detailed reviews of quality documentation to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory defined requirements.
Strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of customers and management.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in determining the appropriate course of action in a dynamic atmosphere of changing priorities.
Demonstrated experience in preparing quality assurance reports.
Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule work to ensure completion in accordance with requirements, deadlines, and budget.
Willingness to work in a nuclear facility.
Desired Skills:
Experience in process improvement principles and practices.
Experience using computer databases.
Working knowledge and understanding of DOE policies, procedures, and requirements in areas associated with issues management and assessments.
Working knowledge of causal analysis techniques such as Management Oversight and Risk Tree (MORT), Kepner-Trego Analytical Troubleshooting, TapRoot, Etc.
Demonstrated skills in planning, organizations, and schedule compliance.
A high level of personal motivation/standards and the ability to work within changing situations to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions that impact the Quality Assurance Program.

Where You Will Work
The Quality and Performance Assurance-Institutional Quality Group (QPA-IQ) performs inspections, assessments, and/or evaluations to provide assurance certain procured items and services meet LANL requirements. Within QPA-IQ, the Supplier Evaluation Team evaluates subcontractors providing nuclear safety-related, weapons program, and calibration items and/or services to ensure technical and quality requirements can be met be the suppliers.

Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.
